Last week, Wallenpaupack’s FBLA chapter sent over 30 students to take part in the 75th annual State Leadership Conference. At this conference, students had to participate in either a test or presentation on a certain subject, in which some of the presentations included two rounds. Before the conference began, though, the students spent the day at Hershey Park, before going back and spending time at the Hershey Lodge. The competition opened early Monday, with test-takers taking tests and most of the preliminary rounds of presentations began. On Monday night, the group traveled to the nearby Giant Center to watch the opening ceremony. This included Middle School awards and recognition to the top schools that donated to PA FBLA’s goal, Feeding Pennsylvania. More presentations happened on Tuesday, and the group got some time to relax before going the Giant Center Tuesday night.

Our chapter sent 12 people to National in 6 different events. First place in PSA was Eddie Kiesendahl, Bryce Pagano, and Ben Scholl. Second place in Digital Video Production was Josh Katz. Third place in Graphic Design was Kody Hanor and Kaitlin Williams. Third place in Intro to Social Media Strategies was McKenna Hanor and Mariona Fernandez-Perdomo. Fourth place in Business Plan was Annie James. Finally, also fourth place in Broadcast Journalism was Jessie Gallagher, Adrianna Milutinovic, and Amelia Porcelli. Other members that got top 10 but did not qualify to move on to the National Leadership Conference in San Antonio included Addy Ezzo, Grace Sterner, and Sophie Valerio placing sixth in Intro to Social Media Strategies. Tyler Meyers placed seventh in Impromptu Speaking, and Sophie Fontano got tenth in Visual Design. This group was able to make great strides, and we wish good luck to the 12 members who qualified for the National Leadership Conference in San Antonio, Texas June 29th through July 2nd.
