Vivian Yetter is a member of marching band, concert band, wind ensemble, jazz band, concert, show and chamber choirs, the WAHS Players, FCCLA and NHS. This is her first year as a drum major for the marching band. Her main instruments are the trombone and the euphonium. When asked about what the role of a drum major is, Vivian says, “drum majors are not only important for keeping tempo, but they also unite the band not only musically but also as a community.” Being a drum major provides the opportunity to learn many leadership skills; something Vivian learned was the importance of seeing things from a new band member’s perspective. She said, “Although I was once a new band member, it is easy to forget what they struggle with. Understanding their struggles makes it easier to help them.” On game days, Vivian is always full of energy and enthusiasm. She is also the first to wish everyone a happy birthday. After Senior year, Vivian plans to attend college and become a high school math teacher.
