As the school year comes to a close and The Paupack Press publishes its final editions, we would like to recognize and thank senior member Bethany Day for all of her contributions to the paper over the past four years.
Bethany dedicated a lot of her high school career to the paper. She served as a writer for two years before stepping into leadership roles as co-editor and eventually editor in chief earlier this year. No matter how busy her schedule became with cross country, track, theatre run crew, executive student council, and other activities, she always made time to support the newspaper and the people around her. Whether she was picking up extra stories, leading meetings, or making sure everyone felt heard, Bethany is someone others could always rely on.
One of Bethany’s biggest contributions towards the paper was helping create and lead the Paupack Press podcast. As the first student host, she set the foundation for future students and hosted the majority of episodes this year. Her podcast on the VIP food pantry also earned first place in the podcast category at Wilkes University’s journalism competition.
Bethany once said she is proudest of the people around her and honored when others consider her a leader, qualities that perfectly reflect the kind of person she is. Her kindness, dedication, and welcoming presence made a lasting impact on everyone in the club.
Next year, Bethany will attend Bluffton University in Ohio, majoring in communication with a minor in journalism as she pursues interests in radio, broadcasting, and journalism. There is no doubt she will continue to inspire the people around her wherever she goes.
Bethany, thank you for everything you have done for The Paupack Press. We are incredibly grateful for your leadership, dedication, and kindness, and we wish you the very best of luck in everything ahead. We hope you continue to do what you truly enjoy and find success in whatever lies ahead!
