Grady Hearn, a Wallenpaupack 2024 graduate, helped develop the WASA (Wallenpaupack Aeronautical Science and Aviation) program in many ways to what it has become today. During his high school career, he helped make the program stronger and provided students with new opportunities every year. When Grady graduated, it was a big loss for the program, but he wouldn’t fully leave the program as he went on with his career. Becoming a pilot requires a lot of hard work and dedication which Grady displays, earning his Private Pilot’s License and going on to earn his Instrument rating, Commercial rating, and eventually his CFI (Certified Flight Instructor) certificate.

Grady now works as a CFI at Cherry Ridge airport, the airport where he learned how to fly, and teaches students from Wallenpaupack how to fly. Grady chooses to stay involved with the program in many ways, this being one of them. As a CFI, he will continue to build hours and then eventually become an airline pilot. The WASA program is happy to see a former student helping current WASA students in their career paths. Wallenpaupack is excited to see what great things Grady will achieve in his future!
