On Tuesday, May 5, the Wallenpaupack Track and Field team raced at the yearly Spagna invitational, one of last important races of the season before districts. The energy was high from the athletes, as they knew it was one of their last shots getting good throws, jumps, and seed times in before districts. The team was ready for the challenge and knew what they were facing, as they raced against most of the teams last week at Jordan Relays.

The event started at 4:30, with the first event being the 3200 relay. The girls team consisted of Violet Hildebrand, Isabelle Wisner, Isabelle Maslowska, and June Brown; the girls were ready to face their main rival, Abington. It started to rain by lap three, but the ladies pushed through with a time of 9:48, winning first place. The boys followed, with the rain still pouring on them. The boys 3200 relay team included Jordan Bermudez, Orson Whitehouse, Dawid Mrowka, and Aiden Janowicz. The boys placed first overall with a time of 8:19. The 100 hurdles followed the relay, with Zayden Lamfers getting 15 out of 23 for the men, and with Reagan Shepard receiving seven out of 21.

The 100-meter dash consisted of Izael Rodriguez, who ranked four of 23, and Edward Kiessendahl, who placed 12 out of 23. The girls’ race had Libby Brennan and Marianna Tubolino, who both ranked 7 and 8 out of 23 ladies, showing off their consistent teamwork throughout the season. The 1600 was up next, with distance runners Aiden Janowicz, Chris Smith, and Lady Buckhorn Isabelle Wisner, showing off their speed. Janowicz placed sixth out of 26, Smith ranked 15 out of 26, and Wisner placed 7 out of 18. The sprinters were up again for the 400-meter dash.

Bryce Pagano placed third out of 23, and Dawid Mrowka ranked fifth out of 23. The Lady Bucks held only Violet Hildebrand, but she pushed through and placed 10 out of 19. Hurdles were run by Jacob Rafferty, who placed sixth out 21, and Reagan Shepard, who ranked 9 out of 13. The 800 were ran by buckhorns Janowicz, who ranked 1 out 21, and Jordan Bermudez, who ranked fifth out of 21. The lady’s held June Brown, Isabelle Maslowska, and Kelcie Fillebrown. The ladies worked hard together, and all ranked in the top five of the events, with Brown placing first, Maslowska placing fourth, and Fillebrown placing fifth.

The buckhorns had two 3200-meter runners, Chase Predmore, who placed 8 out of 18, and Bethany Day, who placed ninth out of 13. The last running event of the night was the 1600 relay, which is a fan favorite event due to the adrenaline. The girls, consisting of Violet Hildebrand, Isabelle Maslowska, Shannon Jaycox, and June Brown, ran a time of 4:08, getting first place. The boys, Rodriguez, Janowicz, Pagano, and Mrowka, ran a time of 3:22, also getting first place.
