Wallenpaupack swimmers cheering on their teammate Paul Cenusa during his 200IM

This past week, the swim team traveled to Abington Heights pool. Instead of facing Abington Heights, they swam against Valley View. Valley View, like Paupack, does not have a pool. This is why both teams traveled to Abington. At the meet, the boys won by a score of 106-16 and the girls also won by a score of 119-39. With this being the first meet of the season, many new swimmers are learning what events work best for them and which events they will choose to enter.
There were many standouts in races with many Paupack swimmers placing first. A few swimmers who placed in first are Paul Cenusa in the 200IM, Jacob Eckes in the 50 free, Zachary Eckes in the boys 500 freestyle, Samira Feller in the girls 500 freestyle, Jasper Hathaway in the 100 breaststroke, and Zoee Stuckey in the 100 backstroke as well as many either events.
Despite it being the first meet, these swimmers as well as a few others placed first in their events. With the size of the team around 50 swimmers, many points are earned for the team just for having competitors in each event. Next, the team traveled to Abington again, this time to face the Abington team. Sadly, neither the boys nor the girl’s teams were able to come out on top against Abington’s tough swimmers. The girl’s lost by a score of 120-55 and the boys also took a loss by the score of 134-45. The team is hoping to come back strong in their next meet which will take place after New Years.
