Wednesday, May 17, was Senior Night at Wallenpaupack. We honored our two seniors, Garrett Hitchcock and Brady Reynolds. The Bucks faced off against Scranton Prep for their twentieth game of the season. On the bump for Wallenpaupack was Jake Holbert. In his first inning of work, Holbert struck out two while giving up one hit. In the bottom half of the first, the Bucks were quiet.
In the second inning, Holbert had a relatively short inning allowing only one base runner via the walk. In the bottom half of the second, the Bucks had another quiet inning.
In the top of the third Holbert had a one-two-three inning striking out two. In the bottom of the third Brady Reynolds started off the inning with a single that was followed by five straight singles. The Bucks scored four runs this inning, one coming from Jake Holbert, two from Jordan Santiago, and one for Mark Nilsen.
Heading into the fourth, Wallenpaupack led Prep 4-0. In the fourth Holbert struck out the side, while giving up two singles. In the bottom of the fourth, the Buckhorns cooled off, going down one-two-three.
In the top of the fifth, Holbert was still going strong, striking out one. In the bottom half of the fifth, Wallenpaupack was quiet once again.
In the top half of the sixth, Holbert got into trouble, he managed to get one out before Mark Nilsen came in relief. Nilsen only faced one batter which he walked before Gannon Decker came in to pitch. Decker would get out of the bases-loaded jam striking out two batters. The Bucks were once again shut down, going down one-two-three. But that did not matter, because they just needed three outs and a handshake.
In the top of the seventh, Decker closed out the game completing a combined shutout. After this win the Bucks were 9-11.
