Wallenpaupack field hockey celebrated four seniors on October 14 with a 3-1 victory over Delaware Valley, making for a memorable Senior Night dedicated to recognizing their years of commitment to the sport.
Sarah Cardiello opened the scoring for the Buckhorns, finding the back of the net off an assist from fellow senior Sophie Fontano. Fontano later added a goal of her own, helping her win the Game Ball, and contributing to help Wallenpaupack extend its lead. Sophomore Annie James scored the team’s third goal, assisted by junior Addison Shiffler, to round out the Buckhorns’ offensive effort.
Seniors Sarah Cardiello, Ava Caruso, Alyssa Galasso, and Sophie Fontano were recognized for their dedication to the program. All four have played field hockey since seventh grade, marking years of commitment to the sport and the Wallenpaupack team. Their dedication has extended beyond the fall season, with Caruso and Galasso continuing to play indoor field hockey during the winter.
Caruso and Galasso also plan to continue their field hockey careers at the collegiate level, carrying their passion for the sport into the next chapter of their lives. Both have been starters during their senior seasons, contributing on the field while completing their final year in the Wallenpaupack program.
Senior Night provided an opportunity for teammates, families, and the community to celebrate the four seniors’ contributions and recognize the time, effort, and dedication they have given to the sport over the years. The Buckhorns’ 3-1 victory over Delaware Valley made the occasion even more memorable, allowing the team to honor its seniors with a win.
