On Tuesday, October 13 the Wallenpaupack girls’ tennis team sent 4 girls (Jenna Petroski, Alexandra Spritzler, Alexis Lopes-Torres, and Adelyn Ezzo) to take part in the AA district doubles tournament. Jenna and Alexandra, a team that was seeded at 8th, played together. They started off incredibly strong as they won their first match against Crestwood 6-0 6-1. After their first round they had a 30-minute break before moving onto their following match against Holy Redeemer. The girls easily won once again with a score of 6-1 6-0, securing their chance in the quarterfinals. They played their quarterfinal match against Scranton Prep and lost with an overall score of 1-6 2-6. Congratulations to Jenna Petroski and Alexandra Spritzler for their impressive performance throughout the overall season and doubles districts.
Alexis Lopes-Torres and Adelyn Ezzo played their first match together against Riverside. They won their first set 6-2 and once again defeated riverside in the second set 6-1. The girls then moved onto their next match against Scranton Prep. They started off with a strong lead 5-0 and unfortunately lost seven games in a row after, losing their first set 5-7. They were defeated in the second set once again with a score of 3-6. Congratulations to Alexis and Adelyn for their efforts during the tournament and the season.
