Tyler Marino is a senior in the marching band. He plays many instruments, but his primary instrument is the trombone. He has been musically recognized for his trombone playing at the district and region levels. This is his first year serving as a drum major. When asked why he wanted the position, he said, “To give back to my band members and others who welcomed me so kindly when I moved here from New York.” Tyler said that his goals for the year include making sure that band is a welcoming environment for everyone. Throughout the field show, you’ll see Tyler conduct, play auxiliary percussion, and play trombone in the stands. Tyler says if there is one thing people should know about being a drum major is “It is not just a title for ego, but a role you take immense pride in and can always push yourself to be better than you were yesterday.” A fun fact about Tyler is that he loves baseball. In addition to marching band, Tyler is a member of concert band, jazz band, wind ensemble, concert and chamber choir, the WAHS Players, NHS, and is the founder of the Wallenpaupack Softball League. After high school, he plans to continue his education at a four-year university.
