The movie Brothers is an emotional and powerful film that focuses on family, war, and the struggles soldiers face when they return home. The casting for this film is first class. The story follows Sam Cahill portrayed by Tobey Maguire, who is a Marine who is presumed dead after being captured in Afghanistan, while his brother Tommy played by Jake Gyllenhaal helps take care of Sam’s wife played by Natalie Portman and children. When Sam returns home, he struggles with anger, trauma, and trusting his family again. I thought the movie did an excellent job showing how war can affect not only soldiers but also their families. The acting was strong, especially during the emotional scenes between the brothers. Although some parts of the movie were difficult to watch, they made the story feel realistic and meaningful not everything about war is pretty. Overall, I would recommend Brothers because it has an exceptional portrayal of the serious effects of war and how difficult it can be for people to return to their normal lives.
