As graduation approaches at Wallenpaupack Area High School, senior Laura Posdon is preparing to take the next step toward a future centered around helping others. This fall, Laura will attend Marywood University, where she plans to major in clinical psychology on the pre-med track with a minor in criminology. Throughout high school, Laura has been involved in various clubs and activities, while dedicating much of her time and commitment to basketball over the years. Her determination both on and off the court has helped shape the hardworking and dependable person she is today.
When reflecting on her favorite high school memories, Laura shared that some of the moments she will cherish most were the times spent “messing around with Carmella and the training center for protective services.” These experiences brought laughter, friendships, and unforgettable memories that made her high school years special.
One piece of advice Laura would give to younger students is simple, but meaningful: “Don’t join the crowd, you will get lost.” She encourages underclassmen to stay true to themselves and focus on becoming the best version of who they are instead of following others.
Throughout her time at Wallenpaupack, Laura believes one of her biggest strengths was surrounding herself with reliable friends and becoming someone others could depend on in return. Whether through school, sports, or everyday interactions, she hopes to be remembered as someone dependable and trustworthy.
Laura also shared that her biggest inspiration has always been her mom because “she always figures out whatever challenge she is facing.” Watching her mother overcome obstacles with strength and perseverance inspired Laura to approach life with the same mindset.
We wish Laura the best of luck in her compassionate future.
