On Friday May 8t the varsity softball team traveled to Abington Heights to take on the Comets. This was a big matchup for the Buckhorns as they had a tough loss against them in their first matchup. This time, the Buckhorns took the loss by a score of 12-0. On the defensive end, this was a huge improvement and only one error was made in the 5th inning. This time around, Paupack’s offense was put to rest as Abington’s pitcher threw a no-hitter and commanded her pitches extremely well.
On Thursday May 7, the JV team faced Abington at home. This game was a battle for all seven innings and Paupack came out on top by a score of 2-1. For six innings Paupack was behind 1-0 until Grace Sterner had an opposite field triple. Besides her offensive breakthrough, Grace Sterner was dominant in the pitching circle and only allowing one run in the first inning. This brings their record to 9-0 so far in the season.
On Monday May 11, JV had a scheduled game against Valley View that got postponed and will be played at an unknown later date.
On Tuesday, May 12, Varsity played Valley View in a long-awaited rematch. The final score was 9-0 in favor of Valley View. This was also the team’s Senior Night and did an amazing job of honoring the eight seniors that helped develop the program to what it is today. These seniors have not only made an impact on those around them, but also the younger generation. The eight seniors who were honored were Lucy Babyak, Sarah Decker, Alexa Laing, Grace Lake, Regina LoCicero, Lily Mancino, Adrianna Milutinovic, and Macy Story. These girls were all leaders that are leading this team towards their successful season. The three captains this year are Lucy Babyak, Sarah Decker, and Lily Mancino who have taken on a role that makes a large and lasting impact on a team. These three girls have faced challenges and continue to push the team in the right direction while also being role models. The Paupack Press would like to wish all of these seniors’ good luck in their future endeavors.
