Cadbury Egg Bark

By: Reagan Buselli

This festive bark is quite easy to make, and the Cadbury chocolate eggs are a delicious addition. The chocolate and toffee blend tastes amazing, and the saltine crackers add a crunchy touch. Try this recipe on your spring break with family and friends.

Ingredients:

·      About 1 sleeve of saltine crackers

·      1 cup (two sticks) unsalted butter

·      1 cup packed brown sugar

·      2 cups chocolate chips

·      Cadbury eggs (for topping)

Instructions:

1.     Preheat the oven to 350°F. Line a 9×13-inch baking sheet with parchment paper, making sure it covers the entire bottom. Lightly spray the parchment and the sides of the pan with non-stick cooking spray so the candy releases easily later.

2.     Arrange about 40 saltine crackers in a single, even layer on the baking sheet. If needed, break a few crackers in half so the whole surface is covered.

3.     Add 1 cup unsalted butter along with 1 cup brown sugar to a medium saucepan and melt it over medium-high heat. Let the mixture come to a boil. Let it boil for exactly 3 minutes.

4.     Once the 3 minutes are done, remove toffee from heat and pour onto saltine crackers. Spread toffee evenly over every cracker.

5.     Place baking sheet in the oven and let bake for 5 minutes, just until the toffee is bubbling across the entire surface. Remove from the oven and let cool for 1 minute.

6.     Sprinkle 2 cups of chocolate chips evenly over the toffee layer. Place pan in the warm (turned off) oven for 1 minute. The residual heat will melt the chocolate.

7.     Remove pan from the oven and use a spatula to spread the chocolate evenly across the pan.

8.     Immediately sprinkle Cadbury chocolate eggs, whole and/or crushed, over the chocolate

9.     Let cool at room temperature for 20 minutes.

10.     Place in the fridge for 3-4 hours. Break into nice-sized pieces and enjoy!
