On October 24, Wallenpaupack Area High School’s Family Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) Regional Officers visited Marywood University. The FCCLA Regional Officers in attendance included Nina Duprey, Breanna Conklin, Petrina Urso, and Jewel Dickerman. Their purpose at Marywood University was to participate in the FCCLA Regional Officer Meeting, which included several other regional schools. FCCLA advisor Mrs. Sullum was also present at the event.
During the meeting, Wallenpaupack Area High School’s Regional Officers collaborated with their counterparts from Delaware Valley School District to facilitate the proceedings. The Regional Officers from both schools delivered a PowerPoint presentation about how FCCLA is going to look different from last year. The presentation also talked about awards that students can win through FCCLA. .
Following the meeting, I spoke with Mrs. Sullum, who provided insight into the event. She stated, “WAHS Regional Officers coordinated the FCCLA North Eastern Region Meeting with fellow Regional Officers from Delaware Valley School District at Marywood University. The Regional Officers lead workshops to help FCCLA members improve leadership skills, explore community service projects, and develop strategies to recruit new members for their chapters.”
Additionally, John Kashatus, School Safety Education Advisor from the Pennsylvania Department of Education, spoke about driving safety.
The event was a success, and once it concluded, a tour guide showed all the students around the campus of Marywood University.
