In addition to their fall marching season, the WAHS marching band participated in several community events and parades throughout the school year. On Sunday, March 22, the group performed in a St. Patrick’s Day parade at Woodloch.
Originally started by Woodloch bar manager John Sloane, the parade is a longtime community tradition. The event was first started as a way to bring a family tradition closer to home. For many years, John Sloane and his father would attend the Manhattan St. Patrick’s Day parade, but when making the trip became harder, they decided to bring the celebration to Woodloch. Each year since, the parade has continued to grow.
This year’s festivities included a parade for guests, staff members, and community members. Our marching band performed the Notre Dame Victory March and Shipping Up to Boston. Despite the cloudy and at times rainy weather, the group enjoyed the opportunity to join the community in celebration and share their talents with the audience.
