The Hawley Public Library held its annual 5k race, Run to Read, at Bingham Park on Saturday September 23. Despite the wind and rain, 56 participants attended to support the library. The cost of admission was $25. Medals were given to First, Second, and Third place in each age-group for each gender. The overall men’s winner was Tim Nowakowski from Factoryville, PA, with a time of 18:09. The women’s overall winner was Tiffany Leventhal from Honesdale with a time of 21:51. The youngest participant was Penelope Beilman (under 15), and Fred Howell was the oldest. Fred has been running for more than 50 Cyears to support the library. Members of the Volunteers In Paupack attended to assist in race set-up, cheer the runners on at checkpoints around town, then cleanup.
