Christopher Reynolds, a senior at Wallenpaupack Area High School, has turned a childhood curiosity into a clear vision for his future. While many students explore different activities, Christopher found his place as the on-air meteorologist for the WHS News team. Tracking severe weather in the local area has become more than just a hobby for him. Along with his interest in NASCAR and spending time with friends and family, his passion for weather has shaped much of his high school experience.
Christopher’s fascination with weather began by watching The Weather Channel and YouTube videos about the Emergency Alert System. At first, it was simple curiosity. After doing more research and receiving encouragement from family and friends, he realized meteorology was something he wanted to pursue as a career. What started as watching forecasts quickly turned into delivering them himself.
After graduation, Christopher plans to attend Wilkes University to study Earth and Environmental Science. He hopes to later transfer to Penn State to major in meteorology. In the future, he can see himself continuing on-air work at a television station or working behind the scenes at the National Weather Service.
Throughout high school, Christopher faced academic challenges at times, but with support from teachers and friends, he persevered. He is proud to have earned Silver Honors recognition for two years and to have gained the trust of others through his weather forecasts. Some of his favorite memories include job shadowing at WNEP-TV, walking down to the studio for broadcasts, and sharing funny moments in class.
Christopher hopes to be remembered as someone who, despite overcoming challenges, never gave up on his dreams. His advice to younger students is to always follow their passions and never quit. You never know where your interests might lead or how successful you could become if you simply keep going.
