Functions of Skin Care

It can be hard to know what your skin needs to be healthy when there are so many ingredients in skin care products. There are a lot of different acids and other substances, but there aren’t many explanations about what they are. Here are some common ones:

·      Hyaluronic Acid is a slippery substance that humans produce naturally (primarily in the eyes, joints, and skin).  It helps your skin retain moisture and keeps your skin flexible, reducing wrinkles and scarring.

·      Glycolic Acid is a water-soluble facial acid that comes from sugarcane. It improves skin textures, evens out skin tones, and is an exfoliant. Being an exfoliant means it cleans clogged pores, removes dead skin, prevents blackheads, increases collagen production, and more.

·      Salicylic Acid is an oil-soluble acid that both exfoliates and reduces inflammation. It cleans clogged pores and targets blackheads and pimples. It also kills bacteria that causes blemishes, calms redness & swelling, and more!

·      Retinol is a form of Vitamin A that unclogs pores and supports skin cell production. Additionally, it is an exfoliant, and it boosts collagen production.
