For the fifth consecutive year, Wallenpaupack’s student council decorated four Christmas Charity Trees in the school’s lobby to represent different organizations and help give back to the community. Each grade selected a different organization to support, reflecting causes that have touched the lives of students throughout our community.
This year the class of 2029 chose St. Jude’s Children Hospital, which actively helps families of small children without charging them medical bills. The class of 2028 is supporting Caleb’s Pennies from Heaven, an organization that helps provide financial support for parents so they can stay with their children without financial stress. The class of 2027 selected V.I.P. (Victims Intervention Program) which helps victims of domestic and sexual violence by educating others and spreading awareness. Lastly, the class of 2026 is raising funds for NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness), which serves as a support for those suffering from mental illnesses.
The student council will be accepting donations during all lunch periods December 15 through December 19 and during some of the upcoming winter concerts. Donations will be tabulated on December 22, the last day before winter break. Students are not encouraged just to donate, but to also read about each group and learn how they can make an impact.
