Izabella Zieba is an eleventh grader here at Wallenpaupack Area High School, and she is one of the many students who are members of the Wallenpaupack Aeronautical Science and Aviation (WASA) program. During her time within the program, she has achieved incredible feats and has been granted numerous opportunities allowing her to further her hopes of becoming an air traffic controller or possibly a pilot in the future. The program has helped her in her future career goals by granting her opportunities to get her private pilot license. Mr. Greenberger (WASA director) informed Izabella about the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) Flight Training Scholarship and encouraged her to apply. Izabella was chosen for the $7500 scholarship that alleviates half of the financial burden, allowing her to fly. Izabella is among the many other students here at Wallenpaupack who receive amazing opportunities while in the WASA program. This program is one of the biggest high school aviation programs within the state, allowing students to have opportunities they would otherwise not be able to have. Recently, WASA has received a Continental 0-200 training engine sent by Continental Motors Mobile Alabama, further improving the learning of airplane maintenance for students, allowing an opportunity for hands-on experience.
