On Wednesday April 9, the varsity girls took on the number one seed in their District Two 5A, North Pocono. The girls came out on top by a score of 6-4. Gabrielle Hieber not only kept North Pocono to only seven hits, but she also walked off the game for the team. Guided by the strategic pitch calls of the catcher, Lily Mancino, Hieber and Mancino were on the same page the whole game collecting seven strikeouts and walking none. Battling through the windy and cold conditions, the girls went to extra innings refusing to give up.

In the bottom of the ninth inning, Clara Babyak hit a double to centerfield. Gabrielle Hieber then stepped to the plate and with a 1-1 count she hit a home run over the left field fence to walk it off.

On Friday April 11, the JV faced North Pocono and took a tough loss by a score of 12 – 8. Varsity has a tough week this week after a loss to Abington Heights (4-0) on Monday, a difficult home game against Valley View on Wednesday, April 16, and a long road trip to Minisink Valley (NY) on Thursday, April 17. JV’s next game is on Thursday, April 17 at Minisink Valley.
