On April 10, the Buckhorn track and field team had its first away meet of the 2025 season at Western Wayne High School. The weather was fiercely cold, and it was the first race of the season where the team faced one of the hardest mental challenges yet. The runners made sure to stay warm and they were able to pull it all together to beat the Western Wayne track team. Many personal records were beaten, and many runners proved themselves, proving that no matter how cold it was, that they were stronger than the cold.
On the girls’ side of the meet, they beat Western Wayne by a score of 87 to 63. The girls 4 by 8 team, consisting of mid- distance runners Shannon Jaycox, Violet Hilderbrand, Maeve Creamer, and June Brown, won first place. Ella Smith, Belle Wisner, and Sophie Fontano swept the 110 hurdles, giving the girls another step to victory. Libby Brennan got second in the 100-meter dash, with Olivia Lojewski and Violet Hilderbrand following second and third place in the one mile. The 4 by 100 team swept with an amazing performance as sprinters Averie Fullum, Marianna Tubolino, Libby Brennan, and Soleil Wright placed first. Shannon Jaycox and Victoria Latek placed first and second in the 400, helping the team score a few more points. Ella Smith and Lillian Williams placed in 300 hurdles. For the 800, June Brown and Belle Wisner placed second and third. Libby Brennan, Marianna Tubolino, and Victoria Latek swept the 200. Kelcie Fillebrown, Olivia LoJewskie, and Bethany Day helped the ladies secure the win as they placed in top three in the two-mile run. The ladies throwing and jumping also helped secure even more points as they constantly got second and first, facing no fear against the opposing team.
The boys also beat Western Wayne by a final score of 84 to 66. The boys 4 by 8 team, containing runners Chase Predmore, Blake Theobald, Orson Whitehouse, and Jordan Bermudez, gained starting points for the boys. Owen Wolff and Zayden Lamfers earned second and third in the 110 hurdles, with sprinters Dan Matyjaszek and Dawid Mroka following first and third in the 100-meter dash. Chase Predmore helped the boys with scoring as he got third place in the one mile. The 4 by 100 team, Edward Kiesendahl, Dan Matyjaszek, Dawid Mroka, and Logan Downey, got first place. The 400-meter boys swept in top three with Jacob Gardner getting first, Dawid Mrowka getting second, and Bryce Pagano getting third. Owen Wolff and Ehren Keller placed in the 300 hurdles. The 800 was a tough race, but runners Jordan Bermudez and Orson Whitehouse placed in top two. Jacob Gardner and Bryce Pagano got first and second in the 200, and then Chase Predmore and Daniel Salinas got first and third in the two-mile. The boys pushed themselves and they won first in the 4 by 400, with sprinters Wolff, Keller, Pagano, and Gardner. The throwers, jumpers, and pole vaulters helped the boys win as they worked hard in the cold.
The track team will have its next meet at Delaware Valley, on April 15, at 4 pm. Make sure you attend to support our runners, jumpers, throwers, and pole vaulters. Go Bucks!
