On March 25-28 the Wallenpaupack HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America) program participated in the PA HOSA State Level Competition at Wyndham Lancaster Resort and Convention Center in Lancaster, PA. There were 18 students who participated in the competition; Logan LeMin, Samuel Urevich, Sarah Niemiec, Victoria Latek, Alyssa DeEsch, Elyssa Lin, Julia Mrowka, Lauren Peterman, Abby Cykosky, Clara Babyak, Carmella Coyle, Kady Hanor, Emily Strause, Noor Abdallah, Miranda Steuhl, Adria Malinchak, Kailyn Kielbasa, and Sophia Ems.  The students competed in specific categories they selected, where two teams from our school placed in the top ten in the state of PA. The two teams were the PSA project by Julia Mrowka and Lauren Peterman, as well as the EMT project by Sam Urevich and Sophia Ems. Two of the students were voting delegates during the competition, which entails participating in the parliamentary process and voting for next year’s state HOSA officers.  The students gained additional information in each category and learned about leadership and the importance of networking. The students had the chance to meet new peers and individuals interested in becoming health professionals.
