On January 10, seven students from the Wallenpaupack Area High School band were chosen to perform in the District Nine Orchestra at the Lackawanna Trail High School. The auditions were in November, where students sent a video tape of themselves playing their instruments. If the musician earned sufficient points, then would be sent to the orchestra. When the successful musicians get to the festival, the second part of the audition process, the judges would ask you to play two excerpts from the music that they were to learn. After the audition, the students would be placed in seating based on how they did in the audition. The next level would be regional orchestra, in which only two or three musicians from that certain group of instruments would continue.
The seven students selected from Wallenpaupack were Nora Warner, Genevieve Neenan, Jewel Dickerman, Bradley Miehle, Hunter Sasala, Brayden Hoffmann, and Orson Whitehouse. The group performed at the Lackawanna Trail High School, with their having two days prior to perform with students from different school to learn the music. Hunter Sasala, Brayden Hoffmann, and Nora Warner have been chosen to move on to the region level with Hunter getting first in Trombone, Brayden placing first on Trumpet, and Nora being the first Oboe in recent Wallenpaupack history to move on to the region level festival.
