In honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, WASD will be closed on Monday January 20th. This holiday, signed into law by President Ronald Regan on November 2, 1983, was enacted to honor the life and achievements of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. a Baptist minister and American civil rights leader who fought to end racial segregation though the use of nonviolent protest. In 1964 he was awarded the Nobel Prize for Peace and has become a staple figure in the history of American activism. Unfortunately, he was assassinated in 1968, but his memory lives on as one of honor and justice.
