On December 10th, Wallenpaupack Area High School’s Child Care CTE program took an exciting trip to King’s College in Wilkes-Barre. Thirty-one students from the Child Care 1, 2, and 3 classes, accompanied by Ms. Sara Rosencrance and Mrs. Melissa Geisheimer, explored opportunities in higher education while gaining hands-on experience in educational studies.
The day began with a student panel, where WAHS students interacted with King’s College’s education majors. This was a unique chance to ask questions about college life, education programs, and future career paths. The panel offered valuable insights into what it takes to pursue a degree in teaching or child development.
Next, the group took part in an EDUC 202 class simulation, an interactive session that displayed innovative teaching tools like a robotic bumblebee. Students eagerly engaged in the activity, experiencing firsthand how technology is used to inspire and educate young learners.
The visit also included a campus tour, where the students explored the college’s facilities and gained a glimpse of campus life. From modern classrooms to student lounges, the tour highlighted the resources available to future educators.
The day concluded with a relaxing lunch, where students reflected on their experiences. For many, the trip solidified their passion for working with children and inspired dreams of continuing their education in fields like teaching or childcare.
This visit was more than a field trip—it was a step toward the future for WAHS’s aspiring educators.
