This July, a group of WAHS’s choir students, directed by Alexsis Neenan, will embarking on an eight-day trip to Italy! Here’s the scoop on what sights they will see and where they will perform! First stop, Rome. Students are to take a guided tour of the Colosseum and a walking tour to see the Trevi Fountain [photo on left], the Pantheon, and the Spanish Steps. On day three they will travel to the Vatican City where students may observe the Sistine Chapel, St. Peter’s Basilica, and Piazza San Pietro. Day three also marks the choir’s first performance, their participation in the celebration mass at St. Peter’s Basilica.
On Day four, a trip into Assisi, the birthplace of St. Francis. Here they are to hold an impromptu performance! Then on to Florence, the “Cradle of the Renaissance.” They will end Day four at the Boboli Gardens [photo on right].
On Day five, the choir tours Florence’s many sights, and on Day six they leave for Venice!
Day seven is the final day before departure, and that morning will be spent exploring the city. That afternoon, they gather to rehearse for the final concert that evening which will take place at a local venue.
Finally, Day eight is the departure day and our WAHS students come home with memories that will last a lifetime. These students have been rehearsing their Italy repertoire a couple times a week and we are wishing them safe travels this summer!
