Over Spring Break, I finally got a chance to slow down and spend time with my family. One of the highlights was the annual Easter egg hunt that brought out all of my cousin’s competitive sides. Even though it’s something we’ve done for years, it never really gets old— running around, even though I’m currently in an orthopedic boot, searching for eggs, and laughing at who found the most and how our grandma has progressively gotten better at hiding eggs. (we’ve sound some in the middle of June in the past.)
Later, I had dinner with my great grandparents, which made the day feel even more special. It’s not often I get to sit down with the whole family, so just talking, hearing everyone catch up, and enjoying a meal together meant a lot. It was a nice change of pace from everything else going on, and it reminded me of how important moments like these are.
Overall, my break wasn’t anything crazy, but it was one of those times that sticks with me because of how simple it was.
