Simple Carrot Cake Recipe

Ingredients (Basic Overview)

  • Flour, baking powder, baking soda
  • Cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, salt
  • Oil, eggs
  • Brown sugar + white sugar
  • Applesauce, vanilla
  • Grated carrots
  • Cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar (for frosting)

Instructions

Step 1: Preheat & Prep

Preheat your oven to 350°F and grease two cake pans.

Step 2: Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large bowl, mix together:

  • Flour
  • Baking powder & baking soda
  • Spices (cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg)
  • Salt

Step 3: Mix Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, combine:

  • Oil
  • Eggs
  • Brown sugar & white sugar
  • Applesauce
  • Vanilla extract

Step 4: Add Carrots

Stir the grated carrots into the wet mixture.

Step 5: Combine Everything

Slowly mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined (don’t overmix).

Step 6: Bake

Pour the batter evenly into pans and bake for 30–35 minutes, until the cake is set.

  • Beat cream cheese until smooth
  • Add butter and mix
  • Add powdered sugar and vanilla
  • Mix until creamy

Step 8: Assemble the Cake

  • Let cakes cool
  • Spread frosting between layers
  • Frost the top and sides

Step 9: Optional Toppings

Add nuts or decorations on top if you want.
