The swim team at practice getting ready for districts with demonstrations from Coach Campbell.
By: Reagan Anderson
This past week has been full of hard workouts for the team as they gear up for districts. About half of the swim team qualified for districts, and they will continue practicing until the district meet on February 27 and 28, at the Wilkes Barre CYC. Wallenpaupack is set to make a strong appearance at districts as they have a great number of swimmers attending.
Now is not only a time to be perfecting technique and getting stronger, but also a time for making small changes that will improve times and set them above their competitors. For example, flip turns are a way you can either drop or add time. For that reason, making your flip turn faster is a great way to drop time and beat a competitor with a bad flip turn. Flip turns have been a big focus for the team, and the team has heavily improved after demonstrations from Coach Campbell. She not only got in the pool, but she also gave demonstrations to the team and helped the team gain a deeper understanding of what makes you faster.
The swim team will continue to work hard until districts where they get to show how much they have improved and what they are capable of. The Paupack Press wishes the swim team good luck at their districts meet!
