The 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan and Cortina have been filled with excitement, stunning performances, and a few unexpected upsets. Team USA is off to a strong start, capturing medals across multiple events and proving once again that American athletes are among the best in the world.

One of the biggest highlights came from speed skater Jordan Stolz, who made history with a gold medal in the men’s 1,000 meters. At just 21 years old, Stolz set a new Olympic record, becoming one of the standout stars of the Games.

In alpine skiing, Breezy Johnson took home gold in the women’s downhill, and Ryan Cochran-Siegle earned silver in the Super-G. The U.S. women’s team also grabbed bronze in the combined event, adding to America’s growing medal total.

Cross-country skier Ben Ogden made history of his own by winning silver in the men’s sprint, marking the first U.S. men’s cross-country medal in 50 years. In figure skating, Madison Chock and Evan Bates helped the U.S. win gold in the team event and later captured silver in ice dance after a close finish behind France.

There were also surprises on the ice. Sweden edged the U.S. 6-5 in mixed doubles curling to win gold, while Slovakia stunned Finland 4-1 in men’s hockey. These results reminded fans that anything can happen at the Olympics.

As the Games continue, Team USA remains near the top of the medal standings, behind strong showings from Norway and Italy. With major events like snowboard halfpipe and ski jumping still ahead, American athletes have plenty of opportunities to add to their success.

The Milan-Cortina Games have already delivered memorable moments, and for Team USA, the pursuit of Olympic glory is far from over.
