On December 28 and 29 the Wallenpaupack Boys Wrestling team participated in the Jim Thorpe Christmas Tournament at Jim Thorpe High School. A total of 33 schools participated in this tournament, and out of 33 schools our school placed 1st. This has been the 3rd year in a row where the Wallenpaupack Boys Wrestling team got 1st place in this tournament. A total of 24 boys from the varsity team took part in the competition. Special recognitions go out to some student/athletes who did exceptionally well in their own weight class; Declan Brown placed 7th, Jake Rafferty placed 6th, Giovanni Lomonaco placed 3rd, Gabriel Caufield placed 3rd, Ayden Blaut placed 2nd, and Tristian Braxton placed 1st. Additionally, while at the tournament Gabriel Caufield and Giovanni Lomonaco achieved their 100th career win.
On Saturday January 10 the Wallenpaupack Boys Wrestling team took part in the Great Valley Duals Tournament at Great Valley high school in Philadelphia. The team started off strong winning their pool of six teams and advancing to the championships. The Wallenpaupack Boys Wrestling team beat, Great Valley 48-18, Archbishop Ryan 56-15, Northern Lebanon 32-28, and Episcopal Academy 58-16. The team placed 3rd overall out of 12 schools. A total of 17 boys from the varsity team participated in the tournament. Special recognitions go out to Gabriel Caufield, Jake Rafferty, and Giovanni Lomonaco for all achieving five wins and a loss, as well as Colten Wilczewski for four wins and a loss.
On Wednesday January 14th, the Wallenpaupack Boys Wrestling team lost against Abington Heights 17-50.
