Wallenpaupack freshman Emma Saylor, a blackbelt in Karate, attended the Korean National Karate Championship last month in western Pennsylvania where she placed first and third while competing. The event was located in Seven Springs. On the first day, she participated in the Board Breaking competition in the 15-17 Black Belt Division where she took first place! This impressive showing qualified Emma for the Grand Champion spot!
On day two of the tournament, she competed in the Form and Fighting portion, where she placed third overall. Emma said that it was a good fight, but she ended up losing on the sudden death point. (Meaning the opponent was tied with her and the next point took the title.) It is quite an impressive show of talent, and we wish Emma the best in future competitions!
