We all know the holiday season is a popular time for charities and donations, but not all of us know how many opportunities there are to give back to our community. The toy and food drives are popular, but there are so many other ways to give back. The Salvation Army is known for soliciting donations, and right now they are partnering with Walmart to receive donations for their Angel Tree Program. Some Walmart stores have Angel Tree displays with different tags, allowing you to pay for different items that will go to less fortunate children. Most local Walmart stores near us do not have physical displays, but you can do this online from the Salvation Army website as well.
More locally is a program called Trees for a Cause at the Hawley Hub. The Hawley Hub has seven Christmas trees, each standing for a different charity that you can donate to as a way of voting for your favorite, and the charity with the most donations will also receive an extra donation from the Hawley Downtown Partnership. Don’t worry if you did not know; these donations are being accepted all month long! Happy holiday season, everyone.
