This past weekend, the wrestling team traveled to Wyalusing High School for a dual meet tournament against other schools in the region. Their day started with two strong wins against Greater Nanticoke and Blue Ridge by 71-4 and 73-0 results respectively. Their third match was closer but still decisive, with a 46-25 victory over the host school Wyalusing. The next two matches ended much the same as the first two- landslide wins over Montrose (68-6) and Benton (56-9). The only loss for the team against Bellefonte was a very close 33-30 final score.

The team went 5-1 overall, placing them second in record among the 11 other teams in attendance. Among the leaderboard of the top point scorers of the day sat Sawyer Jones in 6th with 30 pts, Gabe Caufield in 5th with 33 pts, Ayden Blaut in 4th with 34 pts, and Giovanni Lomonaco being the highest point scorer of the day with 36 points- meaning Lomonaco scored pins across all 6 of his matches.

The boys’ wrestling team will compete this Friday at Western Wayne. The Western Wayne Wildcats truly only have 172-pound Gavin Morcom that will provide real competition for the Buckhorn wrestlers. The Wildcats will need a miracle to win this upcoming match, and unfortunately for them Christmas isn’t coming early.
