On Thursday, October 30th, the Local History Club brought the dead to life at the Dorflinger Glassworker’s House. As part of their annual Haunted Ghost Tours, students transformed the historic site into a living stage where Wayne County’s most mysterious stories were retold under candle lights.
Inspired from Murder, Mayhem, and Sundry Misadventures by local authors Ann O’Hara and Gloria McCullough, students spent time researching strange and tragic events from the areas past. Then, wrote and performed original monologues honoring the lives— and untimate deaths—of real people who once called the region home.
Despite a steady evening rain, around 60 visitors turned out to wander the dimly lit halls and listen to the students’ scary stories. Each story was a blend between local legend and historical fact, reminding guests that every local ghost story holds a piece of the community’s history.
The event was free to the public. In addition to the haunting performances, guests learned about the Dorflinger Glass Factory Museum’s role in the area’s industrial heritage.
With its mix of drama, history, and Halloween spirit, the Haunted Ghost Tours proved that the past is never truly gone—it’s just waiting to be rediscovered.
