Our Wallenpaupack students have been up in the air and seeing the world from a different perspective. About fifteen kids from the Wallenpaupack Aeronautical Science and Aviation (WASA) program are flying, including Logan Haynes, Chase Predmore, and Casey McQueen. Logan Haynes has flown out of Moyer Airport in Tobyhanna twice now. He says flying is a great learning opportunity for people who cannot find what they like learning in school. His favorite part about flying is being able to see the world below him, from above. Logan wants to be an airline pilot, and this is a great step into becoming one!
Another student, Chase Predmore, flies out of Mt. Pocono with the Civil Air Patrol, with his favorite part being the freedom that comes with flying. “You can go anywhere in the world.” He wants to be involved in the aviation world whether it’s flying in the military, civil air, or commercial. He expresses that the aviation industry needs more involvement.
Lastly, Casey McQueen flies out of Moyer Airport in Tobyhanna and recently received a scholarship from Moyer Aviation which grants four-thousand dollars for flight training! He exclaims that flying is awesome and enjoys the hands-on experience he gets from it. In the future, he wants to become a charter pilot. When all three young men not up in the air, they fly in the airplane simulator in class. Many students practice radio communications, landings, takeoffs, and emergency procedures. Next year, a Boeing 747NG simulator will be up and running for all students to fly.
