On March 27, Wallenpaupack’s Unified Track and Field team kicked off its season with a scrimmage against East Stroudsburg South. This annual meet has become a minor tradition between the two schools as both are represented by the color purple.

Unlike regular meets, this scrimmage didn’t produce a definitive winner or loser. Rather, its purpose was to help teams get an understanding of how the events function. It also helped determine times/measurements before the first official meet. Most events were contested including shot put, mini-javelin, long jump, and all running events except for the 800-meter run. Playing against another school allowed participants to push themselves to the limit and practice within a more competitive setting.

With at least five meets scheduled, Wallenpaupack’s Unified Track and Field team is excited for the upcoming season. They’re hoping to succeed like last year, advance to the state championship again, and surpass their previous placement of 6th.
