The Hawley Rotary recently demonstrated its commitment to community service and education by donating $1,000 to the Wallenpaupack Area High School Transition Program. This specialized program is designed to equip students aged 18-21 with essential employment and independent living skills, helping them prepare for life beyond high school.

One of the highlights of the Transition Program is Paupack Perk, a self-serve coffee shop operated by the students for the high school’s teachers and staff. This initiative provides hands-on experience in customer service, time management, and workplace responsibility. Thanks to the generous donation from the Hawley Rotary, the coffee shop will soon be expanding its operations.

The donated funds will be used to introduce an espresso machine, allowing students to craft a wider variety of beverages and gain full barista experience. This enhancement will not only elevate the quality of service at Paupack Perk but also provide students with valuable skills that can be applied in future employment opportunities within the food service industry.

Both students and staff are thrilled about this new addition and grateful to the Hawley Rotary for their generous contribution. The expansion of Paupack Perk marks an exciting step forward for the Transition Program, furthering its mission to provide meaningful learning experiences that foster independence and success.

With the support of organizations like the Hawley Rotary, students in the Transition Program continue to gain practical skills that will serve them well in their futures. Their contribution is a testament to the power of community collaboration in enhancing educational opportunities.
