The girls also entered non-league play this week, playing Crestwood and Honesdale. Coming off a hot 3-0 start to the season, the girls were optimistic for this upcoming week, although nothing was promised.
The first test was on Monday vs the Crestwood Comets, who were 1-1 entering the game. Their only loss was to the #2 team in District 2 – The Scranton Knights. The game was evenly matched and well fought by the Lady Bucks. In the end, the Comets pulled away and won by a score of 49-36. Ella Smith dropped 15 in the home loss.
The next task was against the 2-1 Honesdale Lady Hornets. Not only is this a rivalry game, but it was also televised, plus the stands were packed. Each team came off a loss in their most recent game, therefore both sides were hungry for a win. The game was gritty and very close all throughout. Unfortunately, the Hornets pulled away in the 4th and won 50 – 45.
The Lady Buckhorns went 0-2 on the week but are ready to improve. However, they lost at Pittston Area on Monday by the score of 47-36. On Friday, the Lady Bucks will try to regain their winning form against Abington Heights.
