On November 14, juniors from Wallenpaupack Area High School’s Exercise Science and Sports Medicine CTE program attended Marywood University’s annual Exercise Science Day. The event, designed to introduce students to college-level coursework and careers in Exercise Science, offered a mix of hands-on activities and real-world insights.
Students participated in fitness tests such as the 20-meter dash, long jump, and high jump to assess lower body power, and a barbell push to measure upper body strength. They also learned practical skills like taping a wrist and thumb for injury prevention.
“This trip gives students a glimpse into what studying Exercise Science in college entails,” said Mrs. Ragonese, the program’s instructor. “It’s important for them to see the level of effort and dedication required to succeed in this field.”
The trip is part of a series of visits to local colleges that provide students with exposure to different aspects of Exercise Science. These experiences help them make informed decisions about their future academic and career paths.
