WAHS Fall Show: Blue Stockings

Written by Briana Blaszczyk

From November 7-10, the WAHS Players, directed by Alison Hoffmann, will present Shakespeare’s Globe Premiering show, Blue Stockings. Written by Jessica Swale, the show centers on the first-year female students at Cambridge Girton College in 1896. At a time where educated women were labeled “Blue Stockings” (or outcasts) these women must fight for the right to graduate, face the cruelty of the opposition, and feel thetenderness of young love. This show, held in the high school’s Joan M. Schneider Black Box Theater, will be presented in a “theater in the round” format. Theater in the round is a theatrical staging technique that puts the audience on all sides of the stage resulting in a more intimate and immersive experience! Blue Stockings is sure to leave you wondering, “Could I choose between love and knowledge?”
