The boys’ soccer team faced a tough pair of Lackawanna-Division One rivals in North Pocono and Abington last week. Coming fresh of a 5-3 win over Scranton, the boys were looking for another win against North Pocono. Though the one-loss Trojans would prove to be a very tough opponent. They ultimately took care of business against the Buckhorns with an 8-2 win. The goal scorers for Paupack were sophomore Dawid Mrowka and junior Robert Kratzer. The Buckhorns couldn’t dwell on the loss for long because they would have to face Abington two days later. Abington was 6-1 in Lackawanna-Division One play heading into the game which created another tough task for Paupack. It was a physical, hard-fought game, but the Comets pulled out a 2-0 victory over the boys.
The girls’ soccer team, also coming off a win, started their week with a game against conference opponent Mid Valley. This would be an important game for the girls who struggled in conference play up to this point. Unfortunately for the girls they couldn’t quite get it done, falling to Mid Valley 3-1. Senior captain, Ella Smith was the lone goal scorer for Paupack. The Bucks would then take a long road trip for a non-conference game against Elk Lake. The girls made the trip worth it, coming on top with a 3-2 win. Freshman Reagan Anderson scored the first goal for the Buckhorns with freshman Belle Wisner and junior Sarah Decker both scoring in the last three minutes to secure the win.
Next week the boys’ team has two more tough Lackawanna Games against Valley View and Scranton Prep. They are away against Valley View Monday, and they are home against Scranton Prep Wednesday. The girls’ team has a three-game stint away against conference competition. The schedule is Valley View Tuesday, Delaware Valley Wednesday, and Abington Heights Saturday.
