The varsity field hockey team is off to a solid five and three start to their season. They are currently in fourth place in the Wyoming Valley 1 conference with a five and one record in conference play. The girls started their season with two loses; the first to Delaware Valley one to nothing, and the second to Pittston three to two. From there the girls turned it around and won three in a row only allowing one goal through the three-game stretch. In this winning streak they beat Dallas one nothing, Tunkhannock four to one, and Hanover four to zero. Their winning steak was snapped by a tough Wilkes-Barre team, but this week the girls surged back with two victories over Holy Redeemer and Nanticoke. The scores of these two games were two to one against Holy Redeemer and five to one against Nanticoke.

Girls from every grade level have worked their way into starting roles. The starting forwards are senior Liv Karp, freshman Ava Hoffman, sophomore Ava Caruso, and sophomore Sophie Fontano. Junior Grace Lake and seniors Allie Sterner and Sophia Burbridge run mid-field. In goal is junior Ziomara Gilmore, and back with Gilmore on defense are junior Averie Fullum, freshman Addison Shiffler, and Freshman Molly Cunningham. Aubrey folk had started on defense, but she has suffered a possible season ending injury. Team captains this season are Aubrey Folk, Allie Sterner, and Sophia Burbridge. All these girls provide strong leadership and bring a lot of experience as they have played all four years of high school. The coaching staff this year includes Coach Yatsonsky, Coach Stephans, and Coach Hart.

Throughout the season a few players have really stood out in certain parts of the game. The current leading goal scorers are Liv Karp and Ava Caruso both with five goals. Aubrey Folk leads the team in assists, and Ziomara Gilmore leads the team in saves at goalie. Besides just statistics, the team awards a game ball to one player every game. So far this season the game ball has been awarded to Ava Caruso, Liv Karp, Averie Fullum, Ava Hoffman, Aubrey Folk, Allie Sterner, Sophie Fonatano, and Grace Lake.
