This past Thursday the WAHS Players were graciously invited by the Milford Theater to see their final rehearsal for Guys and Dolls. The romantic comedy is set in 1950s Manhattan and follows the gambler Nathan Detroit (Kelly Krieger) as he scavenges to find a location to hold his illegal crap game. Meanwhile his fiancé and nightclub performer Adelaide (Annalee Marine Paige) insists on a wedding after being engaged for fourteen years. Nathan must look to infamous gambler Sky Masterson (Taylor James) for the finances to hold the game but can only arrange such money through a bet that leads Sky chasing after missionary Sarah Brown (Mackenzie Maula). I was lucky enough to be part of the group that was invited to watch this production and was delighted to see their take on the show after being a part of Wallenpaupack’s production of Guys and Dolls in 2023! The cast has a total of 18 actors, all directed by Angel Berlane Mulcahy. This show typically features a big ensemble, and I think part of what made this production so amusing despite the small cast was the choreography led by Joseph Ambrosia. A special thanks to the Milford Theater for this opportunity!
