PMEA All-State Conference 2024

By: Evie Neenan

Last week, Wallenpaupack had the privilege of sending four students to the 2024 Pennsylvania Music Educators Association All-State Conference in Erie, Pennsylvania. There, PMEA hosts a four-day festival celebrating the top high school musicians in the state. These four had to go through three highly competitive auditions to get to this point, making this a big accomplishment.

Two students, senior Jake Vecchio and sophomore Evie Neenan, participated in the All-State Choir. Performing their concert on late Saturday afternoon after rehearsing for two full days, they sang seven highly complex pieces of varying genres. Evie placed ninth in the state on her part, and Jake placed first!

Senior Angelo Cresta participated in the All-State Orchestra. This was his second year as the sole piccolo player in the band! He says that one of his favorite parts of the experience was getting to play alongside string instruments. The pieces that they played were challenging and unique, with many different times and key signatures.

Senior Zachary Jantzi (not pictured) played second part Alto Saxophone in the All-State Band. He was second chair on his part.

Congratulations to these students again on this incredible accomplishment!
