Bad weather has made this a tough and unpredictable week, as the boys were set to make the journey to West Scranton on Wednesday but was eventually rescheduled to Saturday due to heavy rain. This wasn’t the only cancelation of the week, as the team was set to have their home opener this past Friday vs Scranton, but again, rescheduled to next week due to rain. With three straight losses after the opening day victory vs Wyoming Area, the boys pick up a huge inter conference win on the road against the 3-1 West Scranton Invaders, moving Paupack to 2-3, now within one game away from ending a long five game away stretch, and snapping their three-game losing streak. The game, played at Scranton University, started out heavy, with two runs scored per team in the first inning alone. Although that wasn’t an indicator for the whole game, as the score was deadlocked at 2 for the remainder of the game, forcing extra innings. Wallenpaupack’s seniors Jake Holbert and Jordan Santiago each score in the 8th inning making it 4-2. The bottom of the eighth West Scranton got a runner on base right away, but the Invaders couldn’t rally, due to excellent pitching by Senior Captain Gannon Decker, who pitched the final 1.2 innings after relieving senior Eli Piefer who pitched 5 perfect innings, securing the win for Paupack. The boys are away again on Wednesday the 10th vs a very good 2-0 North Pocono team, and finally, home the next day on Thursday vs the 2-3 Delaware Valley Warriors.
