On Tuesday, February 20, the Wallenpaupack boys’ basketball team won its District Two first round playoff game against North Pocono 57-48. Justin Blanding had 29 points and Jake Holbert followed with 18 to lead the Buckhorns.
The boys then entered the semi-final round of the district playoffs on Thursday, February 22, against Abington.
Sadly, the boys lost the game by the score of 58-51, and their season ended. They finished the 2023-2024 season with a 15-9 record, and they were crowned Lackawanna League Division Two champions.
Head coach Mr. Jim McGinnis said, “We were very happy with the gutty win against North Pocono, and we had a terrific effort at Abington Heights. Abington is one of the best teams in the state, and we had them on the ropes in the second half.”
Congratulations to seniors Kyle Carrubba, Landon Calabrese, Gannon Decker, Kody Goldman, Jake Holbert, Jordan Santiago, and Kevin Wortmann.
The boys put in a lot of hard work throughout the season, and we hope that they enjoyed the season as much as we did! Go Buckhorns!
