With 2024 just arriving, it means that it is time to start planning events for the rest of the school year. One event that the FCCLA Chapter must start planning this year is the Spring Dance, which is a dance for students for special needs. The FCCLA advisors, Mrs. Sandercock and Mrs. Sullum are meeting Wednesday with members who will be able to help plan and or sign up to volunteer with the Spring Danc
So far one student who is helping with the is Leila Katz. She has helped with this event in previous years, and she was kind enough to give information about how this event came to be. “The Spring Dance was started many years ago as a dance that meets students where they are at. We have a DJ and photo booth each year. There are also decorations from floor to ceiling and tables full of food. It is a fun and exciting event for the students attending as well as FCCLA Members.”
This event is amazing, and it will continue to be a Wallenpaupack tradition. The students always enjoy this dance because they can socialize with each other and with the members of FCCLA. It enhances communication skills for both the students and the FCCLA members. It can boost special needs students’ self-esteem by hearing compliments and contributes to a positive and enriching experience for all. Thank you to the FCCLA members for carrying on this tradition and giving the students the opportunity to have a fun high school experience.
